Saints stars to appear at Bacot/McCarty Foundation charity event (April 25, 2010) - Local fans of the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints won't have to wait until the start of the NFL season or drive to the Big Easy to get a glimpse of Marques Colston and Pierre Thomas.The two Saints stars will be in attendance at the Bacot/McCarty Foundation's silent auction and gala reception May 7. "This is a unique opportunity," said Todd Trenchard, the foundation's executive director. Local legends again lend their names to Jolly McCarty Tournament Gautier, Miss. (Feb. 16, 2006) – NFL veterans Shane Matthews and Terrell Buckley have once again teamed up to participate in the annual Jolly McCarty Memorial Golf Tournament. Family commitments kept them away from the much-anticipated tournament kick-off today, but both men said they are looking forward to the gala and golf classic that bears their names. “We’re going to make it a fun and exciting event,” Shane said. Teammates at Pascagoula High School in the late ‘80s, the two became Grid Iron rivals when Terrell went to Florida State and Shane chose Florida. The two later enjoyed separate successes with the NFL. Shane most recently played for the Buffalo Bills, while Terrell postponed his retirement plans to spend a year with the New York Giants. Golf Classic to Raise Money for Youth CenterSaturday, February 17, 2007 By AMBER CRAIG GAUTIER -- This year's Jolly McCarty Memorial Golf Classic will raise money for a future teen center in Gautier that is supposed to bring several area youth groups together under one roof. At a press conference Friday morning, Bacot/McCarty Foundation Executive Director Todd Trenchard announced details about the annual fund-raiser for the nonprofit foundation, which focuses its efforts on helping youth organizations. Trenchard said he does not have many details yet, but he is discussing options with the Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, Youth For Christ and other organizations. Read more...
